After what we feel has been “Taking the North American Market By Storm”, it became clear to us that the best move for our company for the coming year was to test our products and launch our hand pruners into some new markets.
First of all, we have received an incredible number of super positive and supportive emails and reviews for our products. People with hand weakness for the most part are finding The Gardener’s Friend garden pruners are just what the doctor ordered, no pun intended!
The efficient ratchet mechanism in the device provides easier and more comfortable pruning and for many, (Like me!) they have allowed me to continue pruning when it was looking very unlikely using conventional pruning tool.
We have said continually in our articles and press releases that the tools we offer are not a cure for the diseases that affect bodily mobility issues, but they can make the tasks for which they were intended, easier. This means for some, the ability to continue with a cherished hobby longer than would have been otherwise possible. My Mom who is 90 and extremely arthritic, finds that her pair of TGF pruning shears are her favorite gardening tool.
So as we considered the future expansion of our business the next questions was; “What markets are most likely to be good ones for our products”?
The first decision was to expand within North America, both north and south. Our first product was launched in the US, Amazon.com market. After the first week and seeing exceptional sales growth and uptake of our tools we decided on Canada as our most obvious second market. At only 1/10th the size of the US population base and with half the year in winter we did not expect huge sales. However, thus far, sales in Canada have been encouraging.
So then we have decided to move southwards, into Mexico. Though our product listing is up in Mexico we have not crossed all the t’s and dotted all the I’s to enable actual product handling and delivery in Mexico but we hope to have this completed over the next few weeks in time for Christmas 2015.
After very careful consideration we came to the conclusion that our next most positive marketing opportunity was in the UK. With an incredible wealth of and culture of gardening, it was an obvious choice. So as of this fall, 2015 we have begun our launch in the UK. And thus far, sales results have been outstanding. We anticipate the potential to do up to 1/4 3 of the volume we do in the US and this will contribute substantially to the growth of the company.
It will all put this awesome tool in the hands of the Brits. Our secret goal is to help people with hand mobility issues all over the world keeping in mind the financial constraints of expansion.
Thankfully, amazon.co.uk has provided a great platform for us to also begin selling in continental Europe. They have provided a system which allows seller like our company to warehouse product in the UK and still ship throughout Europe but with product sales pages listed in each of the continental European marketplaces. These are Germany, France, Spain and Italy.
Thus far, our results for each of these markets has been promising so our company is also launching marketing initiative to bring our products to the attention of the markets in these European counties.
When we add it all together we are now listed in a total of 8 marketplaces.
We have created Amazon sales pages for our first product in Europe in all the languages of the contrived where we are listed.
